My single axis controller for Proxxon PD 230. I Mark the start and end points with a single button on the control panel and let the Pic micro take over, no stop switches to be adjusted. All user I have to do is infeed the top slide occasionally. To pause, for measuring etc, I hit the big red button and stop the lathe. After measurement,I restart the lathe and hit the big red button again, it automatically restarts where it left off, remembering the precise end points that I previously set up. Takes LOTS of work out of running the lathe and produces smooth finishes. Heck I can even let it run by itself while I take a whiz. This is not full cnc, it is more of an automatic powerfeed.
